Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: January 13, 2026
About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions set out the basis on which Samuel Bell provides coaching and coaching psychology services. They form a binding agreement between you (the client) and me (the practitioner).
I practice in accordance with the British Psychological Society (BPS) Code of Ethics and Conduct, which underpins how services are delivered.
Nature of the Service
Coaching and coaching psychology are collaborative, reflective processes intended to support insight, development, and wellbeing.
- Coaching is not psychotherapy or counselling
- It is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or mental health treatment
- If it becomes clear that your needs would be better met by another service, this will be discussed openly and ethically
As a trainee coaching psychologist, I work within my competence and under appropriate professional supervision.
Contractual Relationship
A coaching contract is formed when sessions are booked and confirmed, and these Terms & Conditions are accepted (via the website, email confirmation, or written agreement)
The contract applies for the duration of our agreed work unless ended earlier (see Section 9).
Fees and Payment Terms
- Fees are agreed in advance and confirmed in writing
- Payment is due on receipt of invoice
- Payment methods:
Late payment may result in sessions being paused until payment is received.
Cancellation and Missed Sessions
Your session time is reserved exclusively for you.
- Cancellations with more than 24 hours’ notice: no charge
- Cancellations within 24 hours or missed sessions: full session fee is payable
- Notice must be given by email
This policy protects the sustainability of my practice and reflects ethical respect for professional time.
Client Responsibilities
To support effective coaching, clients are expected to:
- Attend sessions on time
- Engage honestly and respectfully in the process
- Take responsibility for decisions and actions arising from coaching
- Inform me of any significant changes that may affect the work (e.g. mental health support elsewhere)
Practitioner Responsibilities
I commit to:
- Practicing ethically and within my competence
- Maintaining confidentiality within ethical and legal limits
- Engaging in regular professional supervision
- Acting with integrity, care, and respect in line with BPS standards
Confidentiality and Data Protection
Confidentiality is maintained in accordance with the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct and UK GDPR.
Limits to confidentiality include:
- Risk of serious harm to you or others
- Legal requirements
- Professional supervision (with identifying details minimised)
Full details are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Ending the Contract
The coaching relationship may be ended:
By the client:
- At any time, by giving notice via email
- Any outstanding fees remain payable
By the practitioner:
I may end the contract if:
- The work is no longer within my competence
- Coaching is no longer beneficial or appropriate
- Ethical or professional boundaries are compromised
- Fees remain unpaid
Where appropriate, this will be discussed in advance and alternative support options may be suggested.
Ending the contract is handled respectfully and in line with BPS ethical guidance.
Breaks and Pauses
Either party may agree to pause coaching temporarily.
Terms for resuming sessions (fees, availability) will be agreed at that time.
Complaints
If you have concerns about the service, I encourage you to raise them directly with me in the first instance.
If the issue cannot be resolved, you may follow the BPS complaints procedures, details of which can be found on the BPS website.
